Mel, I don't know how I missed this trip report but I am just reading it now. Glad you were able to get away to Cherokee, sorry you didn't win.

Did you eat all the fruit? Cherokee is one casino I do want to visit only because several of you from the board go there and well, I just want to go!

Oh thanks for the answer. For some reason, I thought you meant you stayed at an off-property hotel, but if I had read more closely, I would see it said "valet parking."

I always think I'll go to Cherokee at some point, because so many people write about it here. I just figure my low roller status wouldn't get me a room at the casino, so I would have to opt for an off property place.

Hey Diz,

Sorry, I just saw your question. The casino has 2 hotels, but I don't know which one I was staying in. When I make my reservation on Harrahs, it's the last choice that comes up, and it's supposed to be a "luxury room". One is the Selu, I think, and the other is maybe the Mountain View? The elevator banks apparently connect them in the middle, and one goes off the the left, and the other caddy corner to it. I've never known which is which, but...

I'm getting to my reading a little late, but I was really waiting for those Cherokee reports! I bet the weather was great, because it was cool here (well the damp weather "dampened" the fireworks Sat. night). I'm don't live in the mountains, but I was in the Kentucky mountains Friday morning, and it sure was cool there, and I know NC is a bit cooler when I've gone through those parts.

OMG Mel. I can't believe that happened to you. I am hurting for you. Don't worry though, you will have the 2 coins in next time. I have found 10 of the 2 coin quarter machines with the "quick hit" feature, and have hit for 1,000 quarters on each of my last 3 trips to cherokee. I do love those machines. I must confess though, that I sometimes put close to 1000...

Sorry it wasn't a winning trip for you but sounds like Royce won a little. Too bad about the missed Quick Hit jackpot. I've played the last coin myself but I have also cashed out one coin and sometimes it's even been a nickel. I just pop the ticket in the next machine.

Glad you had a nice time though and I'm very jealous of you being in the mountains.

thanks for posting your trip report and glad you had a great time on your overnight stay.

so sorry the machines were not that good to you and sorry you missed the Quick Hits jackpot but maybe you can get them next time.
They do make it hard anymore when you are down to one lousy quarter. You either have to cash out or put in more money and most of us just play off the one coin.

Sorry the gambling wasn't the best (I just got back a couple days ago from a day trip, and I didn't have any luck either). Fresh produce----well, you can't go wrong there. Eat and enjoy. Melinda, I am SO sorry you missed the jackpot because you only had the one quarter left. They don't make it easy anymore. It use to be if I was down to one coin in a machine I would grab another coin out of my pocket and even things out. Now that machines don't take coins I hate to put another bill in a machine just to come up to maximum. I am going to remember this story though and the next time it happens to me I will just either cash out of put a dollar in the machine....

Well, we're back from Cherokee. And as usual, we had a great time. The mountains were beautiful, and so was the weather!

When we got to Cherokee, the parking garage was closed. We had to valet park at the hotel. This was convenient! I didn't know that the valet parking at the hotel was free, because at the casino they charge you for it. We got there about 1:00, and were able to go ahead and check into our room.
