What are your favorite casinos to play at and where are they ???? Also, are your favorite places to play, the ones you win in the most? For me, right now, it would be Grand Victoria, in Rising Sun, Indiana, and The Meadows in Pennsylvania. I guess because I can go there a lot more often than Tunica. I can't say I have been coming home a winner, but, at least not losing as much as at Wheeling. I haven't been to Tunica for over a year now. Our favorite casino's there changed throughout the years. For years we like the Grand the most, but for the last couple of years before it changed to Harrah's we weren't going there, because we weren't winning there. I think every casino there at one time or another was our favorite. We won more there when we first started going to Tunica and that was back around 1995.

We go to Atlantic City the most and the Borgata is our favorite place to stay and play. I would have to say we give most of our play to the hotel/casino we are staying at. Now, when in AC we are usually there for at least 2 nights and sometimes 3 nights so we will head over to visit other casinos and most often it is either Trump Taj or Harrah's cause we like those 2 the best. Once in awhile we will play at the SB or maybe Caesar's but not often. Most of the time I win at the Borgata but that is because I give them about 90% of my play each trip. I think they have the best video poker machines and the one's I like to play. Now we also play quite often at our local casinos here in Pa. and we visit 2 of them just about every month. We go to Hollywood down by Hershey Park and Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs up in Wilkes Barre. We like both of them about the same but we do not win much at any of them. I think I might have won once or twice and maybe broke even once or twice and the rest of the time I just left my money with them. Right now those are the main citys and casinos we have been hitting. *Geri*

Posts: 1307 (04/29/09 21:32:41) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	I have a lot of casinos I like (but don't get to go to often) but out of the 6 casinos within an hour of my house, of course it would be Four Winds in New Buffalo, MI. I really feel very comfortable playing there and just about every employee is very friendly. Great freebies (that I paid for), too. Out of the Southern IN casinos, I would have to say Grand Victoria and Belterra. Usually lose down there but like those the best. When I used to go to Tunica, my favorite casino was the Sheraton. It was smaller and I felt more comfortable there. Occasionally I would even win something! One year, I won $500 on quarter Jeopardy within the first hour I was there. When I used to go to Vegas, I liked to play in Monte Carlo, (the now gone) Stardust, little tiny O'Sheas (won my first quarter jackpot there...it was only $625 but that was big to me!!), and Paris. I really liked the Oneida Casino in Green Bay , WI but haven't been up there in years. It was kinda small then but like I said, it was years ago and I'm sure they've expanded. There was one in Council Bluffs , Iowa that I loved but haven't been there in years. It was called Bluff's Run and it was a dog track/ casino. Not sure if that is still the name of it. There was talk in the newspaper of building a land based casino just a little over 20 min from my house but I think that idea is going to get shot down. Don Barden was going to give up one of his Gary casino licenses in exchange for this. Barden used to own Fitgeralds Casinos , too but not sure if he still does. I think that would be a little TOO close for me since I have no self control when it comes to the slots. But another land based and not "casino boat" would be good. Right now, only non-land based casinos are legal in IN.

I HAD WRITTEN A LENGTHY ANSWER, HIT THE WRONG KEY AND IT WAS GONE IN A FLASH. Starting over again. I don't have a favorite casino; the old Treasure Bay in Biloxi was and is my all time favorite. I love the décor and the employees were great. It was small enough to be able to memorize where every machine in the place was but large enough that you didn't feel cramped. Boomtown in Biloxi if it had a hotel is probably my second favorite, again décor. Gold Strike, The Fitz, and Resorts are my favorites in Tunica. You notice I keep mentioning décor, well that's because I never leave a winner so that is the only thing I can think of that keeps me coming back.

That was long before they blocked off Fremont Street and the canopy went up. Once FSE was completed, Downtown Fremont Street became like one big super party. Casinos everywhere... and Neon, Neon, Neon. I like to tour the strip during the day but when the night comes alive... FSE is the place to be for me... espcially on the weekends. The casinos have an old-time feel to them... I like that. Even though we've stayed at every large strip casino, and a lot of off strip casinos.... my favorite still has to be the Golden Nugget. And as for play... I would say that The Four Queens in downtown is my favorite for now and has been for the past few years. Primarely because it's still privately owned and you are treated well. It's always filled with folks at night... and I like a packed casino. Of course FSE is like this huge casino with a Plaza in the middle so any place downtown is a decent place to play. Las Vegas is very easy to get to for us. The price is right to fly from here. No stops. We can usually find airfare for around $300 RT total for the two of us on Continental or Southwest. Transportation is a snap there... you don't really need to rent a car. So overall... LV is our best bet for a 2-4 day quick trip. Speaking for B... I think her favorite casino is The Orleans in Vegas. She likes to both stay there and play. It is a huge place! So we usually take turns on where we stay when we travel to LV. Both are great places. But I think I've worn her out going over there so much...... but just try and go without her.... not gonna happen!

Each has their own personality. My favorite is Caesars Windsor because it's no smoking, the one I get to go to the most often, it's very clean with friendly workers and I'm familiar with the machines. I love Four Winds in spite of the smoking but it just takes too much of my money too fast. I like the Indian casinos in Michigan. The decors are all different but still have the Indian themes and colors. Some of the small casinos in the Upper Peninsula are 'comfy' feeling but don't have a wide variety of machines. But they are good for a quick stop while you're going some place else. I absolutely loved Tunica much better than Las Vegas. LV is just too 'busy' in looks and activity. I liked the laid back atmosphere of Tunica. Of the Tunica casinos, I like the Sheraton the best and we spent most of our time there. My biggest single win on one machine was at a little casino in upper Michigan that only has 300 machines. I won $1067 on a penny machine. My biggest single quarter machine was at Soaring Eagle with $625. My biggest all in one day win was at Windsor when I won $600+ on one penny machine, then $800+ between two quarter machines. I did not like the Ho-Chunk casino in Wisconsin nor do I like the Kewadin in Sault Ste Marie. And I do not like at all the Island Resort casino in Harris Michigan, outside of Escanaba. The decor is just way, way too busy and cluttered looking. Or at least it was on the three times I went there. I probably won't bother again when we visit Escanaba next time. My favorite casino is not always the one I win at but it sure helps Aretta (aka Simmie)

Like others have said, there's several places I like, but I think I can pick one favorite in each area I visit. My picks also cover a lot of territory, from high end to lower. I'm one of those people that when I find something I like, I stick with it to the end, & in a couple of cases, that's exactly what happend. In the 20 years or so we've gone to Atl City, we bounced around everywhere for quite awhile & finally settled into the Sands. A small place, but a great atmosphere. When the Borgata opened, they immediately gave out free rooms & great comps, which were all hard to refuse, so we ended up there for the last 5 1/2 years. A complete opposite of the Sands, but even as big as it is, we do feel comfortable. That's a good thing too since the poor Sands is no longer with us (RIP). In Vegas, we started as regulars at the original Aladdin for about 5 years 'til it closed. After bouncing around again for a few years, we ended up at the Stratosphere. This is another place that's far from up-scale, but the service, casino, staff & comps have always been great. In the last year, it was sold to another company & they have made a few changes we're not too happy about. We are considering checking some new options, but I could never complain overall about our time at the Strat, going on 10 years. The President in Biloxi could possibly be my all time favorite. It was small, nothing great to look at, very few dining choices, had an old hotel that showed its years; and we loved every second we spent there. I just think I liked the fact that they knew they were not a fancy spot, so they didn't try to be one. Unfortunately, that place was also sold & scheduled to be relocated to Bay St. Louis (or somewhere close to that), when Katrina came through & just put an early end to the place. Now we've hooked up with the IP in Biloxi. This place has had a big turn around since the hurricane & it's a great casino & hotel. I find it so darn interesting to read about what folks like and dislike and guess that is why I am always posting questions and waiting for you folks to give your answers. Thing is I am starting to run out of questions to ask Anyway I am back here cause I forgot to list my favorites out in Vegas and guess cause we did not go last year I forgot all about my city of sin which we love. Like 2step our favorite all time hotel to stay at is the Golden Nugget down town and we have been staying there since way back when Wynn owned the place. Now I was never lucky in their casino but liked it but our favorite place to play down town was Binion's Horseshoe and we played there about 90% of the time and used all our comps for eating cause they had some of the best food. Loved the cafe down stairs and also loved the snack bar which sold the best burgers going and good ham and bean soup with corn bread and then we had many a great steak in the steak house with the best view of Vegas laid out for you to see while you dined. I won a few nice jackpots in there but then along came Becky and the Horseshoe was history. We also like the 4 Queens and Main Street Station for playing and also the Fitz can be fun at times and Dan likes the Black Jack there. I also hope more folks come along and tell what they like !!!!! *Geri*

Why? close to home, great offers, coupons, comps, delicious food in all of the restaurants, great people work there 2nd: Paragon in Marksville. Has 9/6 job video poker at the bar. Good variety in buffet. (will check out room on Sunday night, then report back) 3rd: Biloxi casinos. The Beau rooms are very nice, love the huge bathroom and the toiletries that are for you to use. I still get mail in offers every month. Beautiful lobby. Treasure Bay, like Charles, I liked the old Pirate Ship. It was so unique. Also, I could easily locate the vp machines and find Buzz at the Blackjack table.

First place I stayed there was the flamingo hilton and I was hooked. I have gambled all over vegas and can find something to like in all of them. When I go out there I like to spend a day or two in Laughlin, love the laid back feeling there. In Biloxi nothing looks better than the beau but I am not comfortable there and don't like to go there. Love the IP, and last year ,which was my first time back since Katrina, I went in and enjoyed the hard rock. Went because my wife wanted to and didn't expect to like it but was supprised. Tunica. This has ben my favorite place for a number of years. Gold Strike was my home for years but lately the Fitz has treated me better than anyone else so that is where I spend most of my time. PRR. I have ben there twice and didn't like it either time. Vicksburg. Kind of have a love hate relationship with this place. Have had some great play there, but have run into some bad calls there also. Like Amerastar best, I think lol. Best of luck Jack

Usually stayed at Westward Ho. Have stayed and played most places in Vegas but always went back to Westward Ho and Slots'A'Fun. Tunica favorite: The Fitz. They always treat us good and feed us good. Last time I even won a little of their money. Never been to Gulf Coast. Only been to AC one time. Been to Laughlin a few times, but never felt at home there. Ready to go back to Tunica, but won't be able to make it for a couple more months. Oh well! Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain!!!!!!!!! {;-)

And he has purchased Binion's Horseshoe. Last report of ownership I heard anyway. Things are changing so quick downtown anymore. Hopefully the Horseshoe will again become a fine Casino. The Horseshoe was once the centerpiece of downtown in it's heyday with that Poker tournament. Old Jack really knew how to treat his customers. Yep... it had some fine eatings there too! Had to be the best place in town for a quick meal! And seeing all those folks lined up down the sidewalk waiting to get inside for that poker tourney was like being at the Academy Awards night. You saw all kids of folks... rich, poor, young and old... some real characters in that line! Becky really put the screws to that place didn't she? A goldmine fell in her lap... you'd thought it'd fell on her head instead. Jack must have been restless in his grave! Then Harrah's came along and cut off what was left. Harrah's had everyone thinking that they were gonna spruce the place up... what a crock of $#@& that turned out to be They only wanted that classic "World Series Of Poker" name. When the sale was finale, they moved the tourney to The Rio and turned off The Horseshoe lights... even the neon outside. The place went completly dark. Downtown had taken a hard punch to the gut from Harrah's. But the Horseshoe's coming back... the lights are on... the casino's up and running. I can't imagine it will ever be the place it once was. But I'm glad it's open again. Reading your post of The Horseshoe brought back some fine memories. Thanks! And also to you Koz... To bad the Westward Ho folded... I liked it there too! Ho Dogs and Margaritas... what a combo! And the "Slots'A Fun" was the best place to play on the strip... best tables anywhere. $1 BJ and quarter craps... I think it was. Played craps on a table right out next to the strip road... seemed that way anyway... Folks lined up behind you just waiting to take your place. Some fun times!

I never believed Harrahs was ever serious about really running the place, so it's just as well they sold it after getting what they wanted from the deal. We never stayed in their hotel, but we always visit on each trip to Vegas & we love the place, even though it was hard to do during the "Becky" era; a depressing time to be in there. It was the first place in Vegas that I ever played in a daily poker tournament; finished 6th on one of my early tourneys there, so it's kind of a sentimental place too. Since the new owners came in, the place is really looking good, the table games have been improved, & a few other good changes have taken place. There's still a few rough spots here & there, but I have high hopes on the place doing well. No, it will never be the icon it once was, but it should be fine. BTW; not to be a wise guy, but I think it would have been Benny spinning in his grave. I think Jack is still with us. Thanks. -----Mike

I don't know if it's "wise", but I seem to collect in my head bits of trivia, a good deal of it useless, but it's in there. My wife says it's crazy that I can remember stuff that we talk about here, but I have a hard time remembering my home phone number unless I think about it for a few seconds. Speaking of which; after Harrah's got the Horseshoe name, there was talk that they wanted to convert some of their places into that name. At one time of another, Bally's in Vegas & Atlantic City, & others were mentioned. I believe all the financial problems of the last couple of years have put those plans on hold for now. I also think you can go ahead & take all the shots at Harrah's that you would like to do. I haven't had a great love for that company in years.

As for those Casinos over there in the SW part of Louisiana... and my bus trips... I do like the Paragon for their VP... but dang it's a long way on a bus! Coushatta would be my next choice for an overnght trip... but that place could use some re-model... at least a carpet re-do. Don't care for The Isle... B likes to play there though. Delta Downs is ok... but I miss the table noise... no table games... too quite in there ...but a nice hotel. The LaBerge is really nice... but no overnight bus trips to that place. I gotta drive

Posts: 2156 (05/08/09 13:24:14) Moderator Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	As I said, it's taking me a little time to catch up--I'm actually on another trip--down to Miss. to visit for Mother's Day, but anyway, this is a great question, and I'll have to think. 1.--the old Beau Rivage--I didn't really win much, but I liked the atmosphere, the location and the buffet. 2.--Horseshoe Indiana--I'm going there more often since it's close to home, and I'm actually ahead for the year there (of course it is only May) 3.--any casino that provides me with lots and lots of play for a reasonable amount of "contributions" and one that gives me a choice of a variety of comps.
