My friend was able to get a "free" room at one of the area motels. I'm glad Harrahs spreads the wealth around to the local motels! Gambling wasn't much for me, but my husband won a little on those penny Virtual ? machines right when you go in the non-smoking section. I think they are new. He had lots of fun with them. On Thursday night, those Poker Pro tables back there were packed with people on a waiting list. Even had a couple tables open early on Friday morning. There is a lot of road construction in Cherokee...a new bridge at 44l Highway intersection, also that new Oconoluftee Center. Maybe they are using "our" money wisely. Everything is green and lush in the mountains with all the rain. The flower baskets on the casino grounds were beautiful as always. We wonder how they keep them looking so good. Must pay a gardener for each one with our donations!!!It looked more like the Smokies with the clouds and fog hanging on the mountain tops! I'm like Charles' Claire I do love the mountains! Jo B.

I have a feeling if I read your report to Claire she will be wanting to make a trip. We cant this coming weekend because our Grandson is flying in from Indiana but I bet it wont be long.

I just hope they do something about the ventilation so the smoke won't be so bad in the regular casino. I look at the webcam almost everyday to see the progression. I love the drive up to Cherokee from south of Atlanta where we live. No matter the time of year, it's always a pleasant drive. The rhododendrum around the hotel were spectacular when we were there last month. We'll be going back July 2, 3, and 4. There is a car show in Asheville and my sweet husband is going to leave me at Cherokee while he goes to the car show in Asheville. Of course it may have something to do with the fact that the rooms are comped in Cherokee and they run over $100 a night in Asheville when the car show is going on. Hmmm, I'll have to think about that! Well, whatever the reason, I'll just be happy to be staying at Harrah's Cherokee.

Charles, me & Royce and Ray are talking about going in a couple of weeks on a Thursday night. I'll let you know when we decide, in case you & Claire want to go at the same time. By the way, Ray & Steffie have separated again, which is why only Ray is going.

Shes a hottie, if I were him I would be sucking up and trying to get all the brownie points I could and keep that marriage together. Yea Linda, we don't live far apart. I use to vote in that Church right there on Keys Ferry Road before you cross into the next county. Not this Presidential election but the one before that I actually had to park in the next county and walk back to the Church to vote.

We used to vote at that church too, but we now vote at the new school on Stroud Road. I've been meaning to ask if you and Claire have eaten at the Country Kitchen (not the real name I don't think) that's open in McDonough on Racetrack/Highway 155) before you get to Summit? They have very good food and it's pretty reasonable. It's in a strip shopping center on the right before you get to the road that cuts across to Walmart. Hope you enjoy your grandson's visit. We've got kids coming in next weekend so we'll probably have a little Father's Day celebration down here. Everybody is so spread out now, it's hard to get together. Take care. Linda

We looked at houses way down your road closer to where it comes back into 81, trouble is they said they were going to develop the property and they never did. If the builder had done what he had planned it would have been really nice. We also now vote at the new school on Stroud Rd, they have a lot better parking don't they? Its also easier getting into and out of. I don't know where this restaurant you are talking about is Linda. Where is Summit, is that a Road? Is it close to that Mexican restaurant and the Thie (sp) restaurant?

I forget ALL men don't eat, breathe, and live cars like my husband does. It's a car place next to 75 that has a huge showroom and sells car parts and accessories for high performance cars. All the teenage boys know where it is! I doubt that we live 18 miles apart as we are 17 miles from 75 going Keys Ferry to Highway 81 to Jonesboro Road. We live on 85 acres so there is no one real close to us but they were developing right and left around us until the economy stopped everything. When we first moved out here in 1987 you could stand in the middle of Jackson Lake Road and MAYBE see three cars all day long. Now we need a traffic light at the end of our driveway! Anyhow, I can't remember the name of the restaurant, but if you're going down Highway 155 past the bowling alley and past Veteran's Parkway, the country restaurant is on the right in a strip shopping center. I think there is a Mexican Restaurant across the walkway from it, but I'm not sure. And I don't know where the Thai Restaurant is. Obviously, I'm not a healthy eater. Next time we go there, I'll write down the name and address and let you know. We really like their food. Linda

We still kid when we drive by there and will say, "is that you Michael". Sounds like its where I thought it was, I will have to look the next time we drive by which will be tomorrow morning and see if I see another restaurant in that area that looks like what you are talking about.

They eat there for lunch a lot after their bowling league. Maybe you can meet mom and dad there sometime Charles! My friends George and Sherry had their TransAm on show at Summit for a month last year. They are big racing enthusiast, and love Summit! Charles, I told Stef you said she was a hottie. It made her day! Poor Ray, he did try everything, but he's 12 yrs older than Stef, and very settled. I think she has some partying left in her. Royce, Ray and I are going to Cherokee on Wednesday, July 1. I've got to go reread all the Cherokee posts, and see what machines were hot!

I tried to get our room for Thursday night, but it was already booked. Yesterday, I tried to get my parents a room for the 1st, and it also said it was booked. Ray isn't going to be able to go because he couldn't get a room. I'm glad I got mine when I did!!! We're just not high rolling enough to get a room on the holiday I guess. Anyway, I'll send you a private message with my cell phone number. I'd love to meet you if you get there before we leave. How long we stay on Thursday will depend on whether or not the machines suck up all our money the night before.
