To be truthfull I am not sure just what we are doing. We have some plans but with the lousy weather we have been having not sure if they will take place or not. The town where I grew up which is 4 miles from here is having a big fireworks display tonight at the high school foot ball field but it sure looks like rain so not sure what tonight will bring if anything. They put on a nice display but if it rains there will be none of course so just have to wait and see. Our daughter Kim and her boyfriend Val are having a big cook out up at Val's brothers house in Wilkes Barre and we are invited up. He lives 4 miles from the Mohegan Sun casino that we go to all the time. I don't want to go to the casino this weekend tho' cause it will be jammed to the rafters since this is a holiday weekend and they will have fireworks and all up there also but Val said you can see them right from the house. Again this depends on the weather cause if it rains I would rather just stay home. Val's brother has a big in the ground pool etc so will be a nice day if the weather is good Then Dan's sister who lives about a hour from us said they are thinking of coming down on Sunday if the weather is nice so if they come down his other sisters will come here also and his brother lives right next door to us so it will be another cook out. So got a busy weekend planned but like I said WHO KNOWS just what will develope. Our weather has been the pits. It is so weird. Gets dark and rains and then sun comes out and then gets dark and looks like rain but does not rain and so on and so on. We have gotten so much rain tho' that we are hoping for a nice weekend. It's the only time all year I cook out. Having the usual stuff...burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, cole slaw, watermelon, chips and then I bought a Banana Cream Pie and am making two other desserts....a Berry Bliss Cake and some toffee cheesecake bars. Hopefully we won't get rained out because then I'll be cooking the burgers inside on the George Foreman grill! Our weather is supposed to be 79 with a 70% chance of rain. Once it gets dark, my neighborhood sounds like a war zone with all the fireworks so we just go out and watch the show. If I sit out back on my deck I can see the big fireworks from a gated community just to the north. They put on a really nice show, too. My town has them , too but I haven't gone in years. It's at the county fairgrounds and it gets so congested and just gives me a headache. Besides I see plenty right here without leaving my house. Sunday I'll be out picking up all the junk left in my yard from the fireworks! Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday!

Posts: 2093 (07/03/09 14:12:04) Moderator Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Well, so far, I'm making 12 dozen brownies Saturday morning to distribute at my church's weekly neighborhood meal for the homeless Sunday mornings. I'll do some ebay work sometime during the day. Then I'm going to the grocery and run errands, and that night (hopefully no rain) I'll watch the town's fireworks display from my backyard. I live next to the park where the display is each July 4 and Labor Day. The show (which is the official end of the day's activities) is really a big deal sponsored by Toyota. The fireworks go off for about 30 minutes with synced patriotic music. After it is over, it takes almost an hour for the 100's of cars and their occupants to leave the park area. If it weren't visible from my backyard, I wouldn't drive out to watch it just because of the traffic. Happy Fourth to all!

Last years show was spectacular. We only live a little over an hour south of Geri and our weather has been really nice the last few days and the forcast is good for the next week and the AC forcast looks great. I'm sure it will be crowded but we are not coming home till Monday so we won't have to deal with the big Sunday afternoon / evening traffic Jam. Hope everyone has a great holiday ! Ed ............EdB

Royce is working today, so we probably won't stay long, because he's going to be exhausted. Ray is coming over to join us, and maybe Millie. My brother and his wife can't come, because the church where he sings has festivities all day long, and he'll be singing all day. Hope everyone has a fun day!

Not good for my cook out. I've been busy all morning making stuff for us to eat but looks like we might be eating inside today. Hope the weather is nice for everyone else.
