When we got to Cherokee, the parking garage was closed. We had to valet park at the hotel. This was convenient! I didn't know that the valet parking at the hotel was free, because at the casino they charge you for it. We got there about 1:00, and were able to go ahead and check into our room. The rooms in Cherokee are beautiful, with a fridge, a whirlpool tub, sofa and chair.
We hit the casino, and Royce tried his favorite Gem Hunter penny machine. He put in twenty bucks, and cashed out at sixty, so he was off to a good start. I didn't hit anything worth mentioning, but he had enough hits to keep us playing until about 9 p.m. His best hit was on a quarter Daily Double machine. He got blue 7's and a daily double symbol, for 500 quarters. I played the quarter Quick Hits that Topcat and I are so fond of. I'm ashamed to tell you what I did....but I will. It's a two coin machine and you have to play 2 coins to get the Quick Hit payout. I put in twenty dollars, and the most I ever saw was one Quick Hit which pays two coins. I burned through my twenty bucks in a hurry, and got down to only having one coin left in the machine. Normally I would never play just one coin on this kind of machine, but I didn't want to have to try and put more money in to even it out, and I didn't want to print a ticket for a quarter. So I played my one coin, and....you guessed it....wait for it......got all three Quick Hit symbols that would have paid 1000 quarters. I wanted to cry, but calmly got up, let Royce have the machine, and walked away. I was trying to set a good example for my husband, who gets really upset by these things. I just tried to tell myself that if I had played the two coins, all three symbols probably wouldn't have come up.
I tried all the machines I said I wanted to try. I played Houdini, and it sucked! They have some really fun new penny machines...Brianzzz posted a picture of a win on one of them where he got a bunch of 7's with a multiplier. I'm not sure if his was the penny version or the quarters. We played them both and had a lot of fun. One of them is called Collossal 7's. I tried a couple of different VP machines, and they were not giving me anything. The next morning, we played for a little while longer before we checked out. Royce played a Blazing 7 machine, and was happy when he go three 7's, for 200 quarters. We decided to leave then on a high note.
We left about 10:30, so I didn't get to meet with Linda. She did call me when she got to Cherokee, and we're hoping that we can meet up another time. I hope she has better luck than I did!
We stopped on the way home at a couple of produce stands that just looked too inviting to pass up. We bought more fruit than we can eat before it goes bad, but we had fun getting into mountain spirit, and it just seemed to be the fun thing to do at the time!
Overall, it was a really fun trip. I can't say enough about how nice the employees at Harrah's Cherokee are. Everyone we encountered was so friendly, and we find the other guest there to be friendly as well. We don't always win there, but we always have a wonderful time!
