The casino was hot and cold, but overall I lost. There was a $5 VP machine in the high limit area - one of those big machines, which I don't usually play. But I thought I'd use my express cash and try my luck on that particular machine as it was up over $32,000 and I just had a feeling it was going to hit. Well, as luck would have it, there was a lady playing it every time I went over to try and get on it. I sat near where I could see when she got off it, in hopes that I'd be able to play on it, at least till my express cash was gone, which on a $5 5 coin machine wouldn't take very long. Guess what - the lady hit the progressive. I was really happy for her as I was told that she was a regular up there and, as far as they knew, this was the biggest jackpot she had ever hit. I'm not one of those that thinks, oh, if I'd been playing, it would have been me. I just think it was her time and she did it. More power to her.
I also had a guy sitting next to me that hit for $4,000 on a $1 VP machine and another one for $8,000. So as GATOPCAT said in his report, there were jackpots being hit. I got one handpay, but it was on a $600 win, which as most of you know, generates a tax form in Cherokee.
Saturday night they had some kind of a drawing and the place was absolutely packed. About the only machines you could get on were the $1/$2/$5 VP machines in the high limit area, which is where I played until after the drawing.
My November express play had not come in the mail by the time we left to go up there. But on Sunday morning I went over to the Total Rewards Center and they gave me a voucher for my November free play, which I thought was pretty good, so I was able to use it while I was up there, as I won't be going back again, at least not this month. They actually gave me cash rather than a coupon at the Cashier's Cage but I chose to play it rather than put it in my wallet. I was able to turn the $130 into $500 before leaving, so that was pretty good. Unfortunately it wasn't near enough to make up for what I had lost the previous two days.
We had a nice time visiting with our many car buddy friends and gambling friends even if we didn't sell the car and didn't have too much luck in the casino.
We've got a lot of doctor visits and surgery for hubby next week, so not sure when we'll be going back to the casinos. Carol and I were supposed to go to Biloxi while our husbands are in Moultrie for the BIG car show November 19th. But my husband is having gallbladder and hydrocele surgeries at the same time on Nov. 11th and everything hinges on how well he does, so we are just going to wait and see. It's looking kind of doubtful though.
The construction is progressing at Cherokee. The new parking deck is huge. They are still moving machines around in the casino and there were some I used to love to play that I couldn't find this trip. They have installed digital craps as well as digital 3 card and Let It Ride, which they've had for a while.
I hope I live to see the finished product!
Linda
