What was your best ever casino trip?
Now, it could be the best trip because of a big win or it could be a great trip due to the great company along on the trip. Feel free to write as much as you want. All of us like those "good" casino memories!

Okay, this question is a little different:

My favorite Casino trip is our 1st trip to New Orleans about 5 years ago. At the time we had just begun gambling on a regular basis, not even sure if I had a
platinum card yet and was surprised to get a comped room at Harrahs. At that time the Wyndom was one of their partner hotels and we got a beautiful room on a
high floor with a river view. We fell in love with the city and have returned several times. We spent days exploring the city and nights gambling at Harrahs.
We ate at Emerils, Commander Palace and went to the Jazz Brunch at the Ritz. Ea day we had hurricanes at Pat O'Briens and would stop at Cafe DuMonde for
Beignets and coffee. The gambling at Harrahs was great, hit my first two handpays on that trip, we won money everyday and came home up $7000 and we really did
not gamble that much. I hit my first handpay on a $5 slot, something I rarely played at that time, don't even remember the machine, just picked one at
random and hit for $1800. After that I gave them a few more shots playing my favorite DD machines. Hit the double bars with the DD several times for 500, this
was before TITO and I kept filling up buckets with the $5 coins. They were heavy but it was a lot of fun lugging the heavy buckets up to the cage. Today I love
the coin less slots but sometimes I miss the old coins. Talked my wife into trying a $5 slot, she put a 20 in and immediately hit for a $1000, the coins came
spilling out automatically. She was so excited she started screaming ( she can be quite loud ), a lady came over to see what the fuss was, thought we had hit a
progressive. She was quite angry when she found out we had " only won a $1000 ", claimed we nearly gave her a heart attack. As my wife was waiting in
line with her bucket of coins I found myself standingnext to a $10 slot, something I had never dreamed about playing. Since we were up so much I put a 20 in,
good for 1 spin. I hit 3 asst bars for a !00, my wife wanted me to cash out immediately, I decided to let it ride, it was a 5x pay machine. After a few losing
spins I hit triple Bar, Triple Bar, 5X pay, my second handpay, $3000.
We smile everytime we recall that trip. We laughed so much on Bourbon Street ( especially after a hurricane or 2 ), the food was fantastic, the people so friendly, and of course the great gambling helps a little too. That was probably the trip we really got hooked on gambling, I know since that time I have not been a stranger to the $5 and $10 slots. ( Still not sure if thats a good thing or not, thank god for VP which keeps me occupied for long stretches of time ) Can not wait to go back to NO, had hoped to do so this year but then my son decided to get married so our travel plans have been put on hold till 2009. Look forward to reading other stories, great question Diz...EdB Always having fun ! ....EdB ( photo credit : Bruce from NJ )

Hmmm....that is too hard for me to answer, Diz! I have been to so many casinos and there has been a lot of good trips (and bad
). Obviously I never won a HUGE amount so I can't choose one place for that
reason. I have a few that stand out for specific reasons though even though they might not be my "best". My very first trip to a casino was in the
early 90's and it was to the President Riverboat Casino in Davenport , Iowa. That was back when you had to pay to get on, wait in line and then had to get
off the boat in between sessions and then reboard when the new session started. You could go up to the upper deck and sit outside and wait to get back on so
we did and I had been losing and was a little bummed out and then I remembered I had my lucky "blue dot" from the National Enquirer! So I took it out
of my purse and put it in my pocket and told my sister that now I will win since that lucky blue dot was actually touching me. Of course she laughed at me.
Shortly after we got to go back in the casino I was playing a quarter Double Jackpot machine (see? I still remember what machine!) and I hit the jackpot!!! Of
course I only had 2 coins in instead of 3 so I only got $400 but I felt like I won a million bucks! I was SOOO excited and unfortunately I was hooked on
gambling!!
Since then I've been on so many casino trips it's just too hard to pick one. Vegas has special memories though. What's yours, Diz????? Karen |

I agree. A great question. I have loved all my gambling trips. Even though most have not been winning trips, I always have fun, and love the excitement of
being there.
One of my favorite trips, was back in 1995 or 1996, when we were at Tunica, and friends of ours from home were there at the same time. We would have fun meeting up with them and playing, or having a bite to eat together. On that particular trip, we were having really good luck at Sam's Town. One morning, Jerry and I were playing at Sam's Town and Betty and Mike came over, and then all four of us were playing. That was back when you filled the buckets up with coins if you won. Well, I was lucky enough to be hitting over and over, and was having a great time. Jerry stopped playing and spent his time taking the buckets up to the cashier for me to cash them in. It was so much fun, and we all laughed and laughed. None were big hits, but it didn't matter, because they all add up. That trip was probably our third or fourth trip ever, and we sure became hooked after that.

Ooh, I like this one. The best trip was our Vegas trip, 2006 I think. Big group that year - me, Royce, mom, Dad, brother, sis-in-law, best friend & her
husband, and my sis-in laws best friend and husband. We stayed at the Stardust, and it was just a few months before they imploded it. We really enjoyed the
atmosphere there. My husband played in his first Texas hold em' tournament, and won, and I had a winning trip on the slots. But overall, it was just a
great trip.

These are great answers, and since you asked about my best trip Karen, I guess it would be my first and second trips to Vegas. Now this was years ago, but I
was attending a conference just down the street from Disneyland. Since I hate to fly, I convinced one of my friends to drive out with me. We stopped and
stayed at the Excalibur since the rooms were $29 or something like that. (I told you this was a long time ago). I had only played the slots once or twice
before, but just the overnight at the Excalibur got me hooked. We both had such a good time, we decided to stop there on our return trip from the conference
to the Midwest. The biggest wins were probably $100 or so, but believe it or not, I still actually have a roll of quarters from the Excalibur.
I still remember all my biggest wins on the slots over the years (well there aren't too many of those to remember), but that trip was the start of it all. I can't wait to read about more "best trips." |

In 1996 at Cypress Bayou when I won the progressive .25 vp jackpot of over $3,000 was very exciting. Most memorable is the get together with Biloxione posters at The Palace in June 2005. Little did we know at the time, that in only a few months everything would be destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. But, great friendships were made and this meeting will remain with me always. |

Sidysue, I remember that meet well, you and Buzz gave me and Claire your $5.00 match play coupons and we lost them on the craps table. Thanks Guys.
I have had many memorable trips but one that stands out is one we made back in 2000 down to Biloxi. I was off work Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I took money out of the credit union on Thursday and just mixed it with our regular running money, we had originally planned on going down on Sunday, but decided at the last minute to go on Saturday. We had such a great time, no big hits but just kept hitting small stuff. We decided on Monday since we had gone down a day early to go home a day early, we counted our money and we were even for the trip. We couldn't believe it. We had spent money at home going out to eat, buying gas to get down there, buying drinks, eating while we were in Biloxi, tipping the bartenders and waitresses and we were still even for the trip. Which means we were really ahead. We decided to stay Tuesday night as well and come home on Wednesday. When we got home we were down about $50.00 which means we were still ahead. I have no idea how much we spent on food, gas, beer and tips but it was a bunch. We put all the gambling money back into the credit union and still had enough to run on till I cashed a check on Friday.

Mel, there were not a lot of folks in attendance that day but like Sue says friendships were made. I walked in that room that day and didnt know a single
person. I have seen several of them again at the casinos and in fact went on a cruise back in December along with the GaDog and his Keeper. Jim and Kay.
Some of you try to get to a Tunica meet, LOT of folks at those.
