What is the problem with CHEROKEE???? |
Lead | |
|
I am new to this board and live in Knoxville. We visit Cherokee often, too often. The same results VERY time. It is the ONLY casino close to us and I do love
the rooms and the staff. Luckily, we always get rooms comped. But, you just can not win there. We were there this last weekend and played mostly quarter slots,
Blazin sevens and Wild Cherry with NO luck. People around us were doing good, and the horrible machine I would leave would be a winner for the next person. I
wonder if they know the card and know that no wonder what we will donate MORE money. I just don't get it. I guess I enjoy the rooms and keep going back for
more donations. Does anyone else feel this way? I have never had this problem in Vegas. I hate that I do love the area and the hotel so much. I need to save
money and travel for better results. Does anyone else think Cherokee will continue to have poor pay outs as long as they continue the expansion??????

Hello! We;come!
I have never played at Cherokee, but, I know the feeling you are having. After going to a casino several times--especially if it is the same one, and losing, losing, losing...........you are bound to wonder (I know I do) and get the feeling that they no who you are and are not going to let you win----because, like you said--they know you will be back again, anyhow. But, I can assure you, that isn't the case. It is a lot of luck, on when you win. You have to be at the right place at the right time. I just got back from a trip to Grand Victoria, Indiana, and I did not do well at all. It is depressing to spend the day, and not win a thing. I did get some playback, but, basically nothing to cash out and take to another machine. But, I will go back, and maybe---maybe the next time I will win. I have come home a winner a few times, so I know it can happen.....but, I also know, that most of the time, it just isn't going to happen. That is why, we must go to have fun, and know that it is entertainment, with the CHANCE of coming home a winner. Good Luck on your next trip---it just may be a winner. Carol |

Hello Tnslotlover!
I have the same feeling about Cherokee. I love the rooms, the casino and the staff. But I never seem to win. I always have a great time though, and continue to go back and feed those machines. And we do see a lot of people winning around us, and keep thinking that next time it will be us. What's up with that????? So if it's not you winning, and it's not me, and it's not the other's on this board - who the heck are those people I keep seeing hitting all those jackpots? The last time I was there, I was playing $.50 lock and roll Triple Bonanza. This one guy was playing different machines and winning on several different machines. My machines - and I tried a few, kept teasing me, but no big hit. But it's not just Cherokee for me, I can't win in Tunica, Biloxi, Michigan, Pearl River or anywhere else. I did do ok in Vegas, but that's not exactly convenient. So I guess I'll keep making that drive, and getting the nice free rooms,
and hoping the next time it will be me. Or you. Or Charles. Or Topcat. Or Tn Gambler. Or one of the other frequent Cherokee visitors that I see posting on
here!

Mel, you are so funny! I have not done badly at Cherokee, I have just never came away a winner either. Just like I have never came away a
winner at Biloxi, Tunica, Pearl River, etc. etc.
I know that folks win
there because I have seen it and I have talked with people that have won. Maybe next time.
Hey, I love the area, the Hotel, what a nice place.

Just wanted to add my two cents to this discussion. My friend and I were at the casino on Friday and Saturday night this past weekend. We couldn't seem
to get a single credit. I did see a woman win $10,000 on a dollar machine....she was betting $12 a pop! Other than that win, the only win they announced on
Friday night was for $700. On Saturday night, they gave away some cash and a car....all of the cash winners were in the area when their name was called and so
was the winner of the car. The car winner didn't seem that excited and took the money! Since you have to have your card in to play up there, it does
make me wonder! Jo B.

Tnslotlover,
First of all welcome to the board! I think you'll find we all like the casinos, but hate the losing. It just seems to me since the advent of so many one cent and two cent slot machines, I tend to spend more on those, and I think sometimes I bet too much on them, but then I've tried the quarters only (I'm the lowest rollers of low rollers), and I still don't win anything like I used to several years ago. I guess I just think they took out the better paying quarter machines and replaced them with all the one cent and two cent ones---well nickles too. At any rate, all of us on the board like reading people's opinions of the slots and any and all stuff about casinos, so please post any time! |

Hey Diz,
That's true. I used to stick to quarters, and win a lot more. Now I get sidetracked with all the pretty lights on the penny machines, and I don't win nearly as much. Everytime I go I say I'm going to get back to more
basic 3 reel quarter machines, then some fancy, sweet talking penny machine calls my name, and it's all over. I'm so easy.

I think we all feel your pain! Wins just seem to come in cycles for us and this last cycle is lasting a loooonnnngggg time! But, I figure it is the cost of
entertainment and as long as Harrah's keeps giving us rooms, food and money, we'll keep "paying" for those freebies. Seriously, we have had
winning trips to Cherokee, but definitely more losing ones. How could they build the hotel and give away cars and money if we all won. We also noticed that
Vegas is not paying as well now as it used to either. Maybe it's the machines I pick. I used to play quarter and dollar slots, but now I seem to always go
for the nickel ones and they take a lot of your money with normally small returns. Yeah - I won 200 coins ($10) on the nickels, 200 on the quarters - $50! Big
difference. But the nickels are so much fun. By the way, nice to see another Knoxville person on the board. We'll be donating to Cherokee again the end of
the month.

YES I AGREE WITH GAMBLING ADDICT !! my aunt will go to Cherokee and she will win so much money some times she will bring back tons of tax slips along with
lots of cash but i have to mention she plays big to win big she plays the 5-25 dollars VP and kicks butt. Now i play keno and i have won the keno jackpot but
that was years ago,we win sometimes and lose sometimes but often i do remove my card to see if it makes a difference,,, it never does.I see lots of people
doing that also .JUST want to mention i went a few weeks back and they announced that some one had won 96 thousand dollars and i did not think the jackpots
went that high ,after the announcement NO wins at all for anybody never heard another announcement the whole day .it was definitely weird and they didn't
give the persons name or where they won the money at the persons request ! huh !!

Cherokee has dismal payouts compared to the numbers they draw. Before they found the loop hole to allow them to have real slots based on the raffle drawings
back in the all lock and roll days, the highest paying slots in the casino were in high limits ($5 and up) and they only returned 95 - 96%. All nickels were
set to 85%, with the exception of 1 bank which was set to 90% which I'm sure was a mistake, all quarter machines were 90%, fifty cent were 91%, dollars
were 93% and $5 and up were 95% but no machines in the entire casino were set to the highest return which was 98%, I should know I tested all of them and was
asked to leave a number of times while doing it, they don't like notepads for some reason.
I'm quite sure nothing has changed now with the exception of the addition of penny games which I'm certain are all set to 85%. |

Wow, that's amazing... that they asked you to leave ! How is the testing done to establish what the payout on a machine is? Sure would be interesting to
get results from the Seminole Tampa HR too.....

the only machines you can really test are the lock and roll versions of the machines, I can do a few video themes too but those are very time consuming,
otherwise you would have to play thousands of games on a 3 reeler to determine the payout, but on L&R machines there's a see odds button that shows the
reel strip layout and on each game there a certain symbol combination you'd look for to see what the game returns. Like on ten times pay it was a triple
bar, there would be X on reel one and X on reel 2 and X on reel 3 for the 85% game but there would be X on reel 1 and X on reel 2 and X on reel 3 for the 90%
game and so on. I think they only have bingo machines there, I'm not sure how you could test them since they're pretty much CDS (central determination)
type games.

I have been to Cherokee 64 times since 2002. I came home a winner on 13 of those trips. I still like going up there, but go less than I would if I could win
more often. GATOPCAT

Interesting. I've never really kept a count of the number of times I go to a specific casino, but if I did, I might discourage myself from going since I
think my wins to losses ratio would be a lot lower than yours.
