I left home about 7:45am and enjoyed a leisurely drive through the mountains, and arrived in Cherokee about 10:15am. I was surprised at the
changes since my last trip in December. Construction is well underway on what appears to be a major expansion of the casino, and of the hotel. I was also
surprised at how crowded the casino was for so early in the day. I didn't have any trouble finding and playing some of my favorite slots, but there was a
good sized crowd already in the casino at 10:30am. I played my favorite quarter 2-coin "quick hit" machines without any luck, then tried my luck on
the quarter blazing 7's, also with no good hits. I noticed that even though I didn't get any good hits, I did get enough small hits to make my play
last longer. That was pleasant. I wandered around and looked at all the new machines, and tried a few of them. My favorite was a 2 cent bonus machine on the
back wall to the left from the main casino entrance. I got several bonus rounds, and even managed to cash out more than I put in after about an hour of play.
I decide to use some of my points for the buffet for lunch, and was glad I did. The food was a cut above what I remembered, and I ebjoyed my lunch. They even
had sectioned grapefruit which I love. After lunch, I must have gotten sleepy, because my bankroll went down rapidly. I guess I should have stayed away from
those $1. slots. I thought about trying the poker room, but just observed it for a while. Those playing seemed to be enjoying it. I may give it a try on my
next trip. My only interesting hit came on a 5 cent bonus machine, when I lined up 3 wild symbols for 1,616 nickles. If I can, I'll show the
pics.
Well, I hope you can see them. I managed to continue play
until 7:15pm before my bankroll was depleted. I left Cherokee then, and arrived home at 10:10pm. All in all, it was a fun day. I noticed that even though I
did not have any really good hits, I did see several other players hit for payouts from $250. to $5.000. Maybe I'll get some of those next trip.
