This first set was the most recent and best winning trip although I still lost, I had some good hits. And the 2nd to most recent trip.. not many hits this time around. And the final installment.. from several months ago....

On some of the pictures it says LOCK, maybe there are 2 locks and in one photo at least there are 3 locks and I do not know what that means nor have I ever seen that before so can you explain that to me. Does it mean that the reels lock up and then the last reel spins again ???? *Geri*

You spin once, get to hold what symbols you think will win and spin again to try to complete the pay. Those are few and far between at Cherokee now, raffle reels have taken the casino over. Back when Cherokee first opened that's the only machines they could have due to state gambling laws, they slipped in real slots under the guise of a raffle system where each credit bet "buys" 1 entry into the monthly raffle, which is also why the regular slots there lock up and have a taxable handpay on a single win over $599. The only other casino I've seen lock and rolls at is the new dog track casino in Arkansas.

Geri, the first time I played the lock and roll I was confused. You have to know what pays what or you don't know what to hold. It would do you no good in the world to hold say two of a non winning combination, I have actually seen people do this. Like Brian says, you have to spin twice, you just have to remember to lock in what you want to keep, if you were dealt three double diamonds on the first spin and didn't lock them in you would lose them if you hit the button to spin again.

I was totally confused so a guy next to me explained them. I was told it was because gambling was illegal in NC. So when you choose to keep or throw away what rolls up, it is no longer is gambling. I was confused when I played them at first, too. I was only there once, in 2001. It was a couple weeks after 9/11 and what really made me mad was they were searching the purses of all the women that walked in the door but just let all the men walk right in without stopping them or even looking at them. Did they think just because a man didn't have a purse that he couldn't have some sort of weapon in his pocket or under his pant leg? Just didn't like that only the women were searched. I didn't win a thing there either so that's probably another reason I didn't like it. The three other times I was in Gatlinburg , I didn't even have the urge to go back and that's unusual for me not to want to go to a casino. Ok...done ranting. I'm feeling really crabby for some reason this morning.
