Gary (my husband) had bought Bob Dancer's video poker software. We play at home and tone up the dos and dont's of video poker. To my benefit I was playing deuce's wild poker at the bar in the rear right side of the casino by the restrooms. The derby was on and I had a cold beer in front of me. Live is good! I hit 4 deuce's and an ace for $200. Next hand I kept three cards for a natural royal and drew the other two for $1,000. Then I got brave and started playing $5. I finally cashed out $1,465. No W2G's. My trip was paid for. We met at the bar up front on the left. There were young people 5 deep all over the bar area. The bartender said they were here for a concert. I thought she said Sting was playing. Now I've heard of Sting and thought wow they are here at Soaring Eagle. Big Event! But nooooooooo it was a group called Staind. Who the heck is Staind. I am getting old. The casino was busy but then again it was a Saturday. Had a prime rib sandwich from the cart. Excellent sandwich and we headed home.
Monday, May 4 My sister and me head back to Soaring Eagle. I took $300 from my Sat. winnings to play with. It was a beautiful spring day. We started at the small original casino. I hit immediately hit $97 playing Dublin pennies. I thought here we go again a winning trip. That was about the extent of winning streak. No wins at video poker, or other assorted slots. We headed over to the larger casino. I was amazed at how busy the casino was on a Monday The place was packed. Who are these people? Couples on retirement? Laid off workers? Heard a couple of men talking about Chrysler filing bankrupcy etc. I truly was amazed with this economy how many people were playing. But, heck whatever works. Neither one of us took home extra money but we sure had a good time together. It's not often just the two of us get to spend time together alone. Enjoyed a great dinner with my mom and sis on Monday night and laughed reminiscing on days past. Left for Raleigh on Tuesday with $1,000. in my pocket. That's a good gambling pot for Gary and my anniversary trip to Reno end of the month.
