In spite of all the bad reviews I read about Soaring Eagle, we decided to go anyway. And we had a great time.
We were up at 5 and on the road by 6, since it was a day trip and not an overnighter. It took 3 hours to get there because of the rain and the construction around Lansing during rush hour. It only took 2 hours 15 minutes back.
I haven't been to Soaring Eagle for years, so my card didn't work right. I went to the players club to get a new one. While there, I mentioned that it was our anniversary. She asked if I had my marriage certificate with me. I said I am not in the habit of carrying that around. She said too bad because they would give us $2 for each year we were married. So we missed out on $96. Bummer.
I mostly played slots that Windsor doesn't have. The only good hit I had before lunch was on one that I can play at Windsor, Coyote Moon. The very first spin on a 60 cent bet brought me $48+. Then I hit the bonus for another $40+. That money kept me going for a while.
We decided to eat at the buffet even tho the reviews were awful. It wasn't the best but it beat Four Winds buffet. At least the desserts were good. After we ate, I told Duane I had contributed just about all I wanted give to those tight machines, so I'd probably be ready to go in about a half hour. I had $40 left that I was willing to donate.
The first $20, I played on penny machines but didn't hit anything. As I was walking by a quarter 'Double Triple Stars', it whispered to me to stop there. I reluctantly put my last $20 in. After about $10, I hit double, triple blue seven. I don't remember how much it was. Three spins later I hit double, triple blue seven with stars on the sevens for 2700 quarters. Wahoo. I cashed out $760.75. I immediately found Duane and said I didn't want to leave just yet. I cashed that ticket in and went to another machine just like that one and it $150. They have lots of those machines there. So I hopped around to different ones but didn't hit much.
I went back to the penny machines and hit a few good pots anywhere from $50 to $100. When it was time to leave around 5 so we could get home before dark, I was still $600 ahead and that was a good time to leave. Duane had played JOB video poker all day and was $22.50 ahead. They actually had 9/6 pay where Windsor only has 7/5.
While we there, they had a special going. If you get 2500 points in one day, you get a little crystal eagle and chance at $5-$1000. Naturally, I won $5.
All in all, we had a very good day and got home alive and well.

And, it only got better after that.
