Do any of you folks still write checks in this new age of on line bill paying and banking etc?? I use to write checks out for everything but I don't write to many anymore. I now use on line banking and love that cause it saves me trips to the bank to transfer money etc. They have closed a few branches of our bank down so now we have to drive farther to get to the bank even so the on line banking is good for us. I still write some checks out but not to many and with the price of stamps it saves me on postage also. I started to use our debit card alot now so that cuts down on the check writing also and is so easy to use. I used to shy away from using the debit card for fear I would forget to mark it in the check book but have been using it steady for over a year now and it is working out great for us. So just thought this might be a good question to chat about . *Geri*

I do have an online bank account though that I use to transfer money from one account to another. That really does come in handy sometimes. I don't use a debit card, either.

I don't like putting my credit card or bank account number out there on the web. I know it's supposed to be safe but there's a lot of other things that were supposed to be safe and have turned out not to be. It's just one less thing to worry about. I bought 5 years worth of 'forever' stamps, so I'm good for a while without the cost going up. Aretta (aka Simmie)

We use the debit card when we're out though, groceries, restaurants, gas..... It would be great if my husband would tell me when he used it, but I have to go online and check it every couple of days to see what damage he's done!

I do use on line banking to pay for my credit because its with the same institution, I just transfer the money. I have several bills just debited out of my account. Water, Electricity, Gas, State Farm auto/homeowners/umbrella, and our Life Insurance from the company my wife retired from, it sure makes it easy. To answer your question, yes I still write checks, but not very many. One way I cut down on checks is to use my credit card and pay it off every month, I never owe any interest charges. I haven't paid any interest in years plus I get 1% cash back at the end of a year.

We use the credit card and pay it off every month. We have never had an interest charge. We do not use a debit card. We do all our banking online. I resisted doing this for a very long time. I hate change! But once I saw how easy it was to transfer from one account to another and the bank statement is a breeze to check.

I have one credit card and pay it off each month. I write checks, and I have resisted online banking. I don't have a debit card. I do have automatic deposit of my retirement check, and of course selling on ebay, I have to use paypal which I actually like.

I have bought a lot of stuff on Ebay and for years, always sent money orders. Then I finally read about Paypal towards the end of last year and did it and it's great. So much faster and much easier. Just click, click , click and my money is sent to the seller. I get my stuff a lot faster that way , too....most of the time.
